Insurance companies asked to dispose of claims of traders
Kanpur: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar Vishak G Iyer on Tuesday directed the insurance companies to dispose of the claims of traders who are victims of the Bansmandi fire incident. A fire had broken out in five complexes of Bansmandi on April 3 which destroyed almost all shops situated at the five complexes.
The district magistrate was informed in a meeting that the insurance companies have so far received 68 insurance claims and have cleared as many as 32 claims worth Rs 2.30 crore. The DM asked them to clear the remaining claims within a week. The officials also informed the DM hat till April 30, as many as 92 loan applications had been received under ODOP scheme and against them 5 loan applications were cleared and a sum of Rs 2.25 crore had been sanctioned and disbursed. The DM asked them to ensure disposal of the remaining applications on priority basis and under the rules within one week. Since the physical records available with the shopkeepers had been destroyed in the fire, the insurance companies should process the insurance claims through the records available online such as GST returns and updated information submitted before the banks.
While processing insurance claims related to the fire, it should be ensured that the traders do not face any kind of problems and difficulties in their disposal.
In case of any problem in disposal of the claims, lead bank manager should be contacted, the DM said.
