VMC to interlink two water supply schemes
Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will be interlinking the water supply pipelines from two major water supply projects in the western parts of the city. The interlinking will ensure that in case of a snag or maintenance in one of the projects, water supply does not dry up.
The 1,080 mm water supply pipelines from the Khanpur water supply project that draws water from a Narmada canal and the Sindhrot water supply project that draws water from the Mahi river will be linked near Aarana Lawns on the Gotri-Sevasi Road.
In-charge additional city engineer (waterworks) Amrut Makwana said that the interconnectivity will ensure that whenever needed, water from one project can be diverted to the other. He added that the capacity of both the water projects was sufficient to provide water to another whenever needed.
The work on the interconnectivity will be taken up on Wednesday and Thursday. Due to the work, water supply to some areas provided water from the Gayatrinagar water tank will be affected on Wednesday and Thursday. On both days, different areas in the network of the water tank will not be provided water ensuring that the supply is affected only once during the two days. Similarly, water supply to some areas from the Vasna water tank will be affected on Thursday.
