NOIDA: The Noida Authority has levied fines worth Rs 45 lakh on six contractors and removed three junior engineers from their positions for poor upkeep and maintenance of the city. Instructions have also been given to issue blacklisting notices to three construction companies.
The action was taken after an inspection by Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari in sectors under work circles 1 to 5 on Monday.
In work circle 3, roadside tiles were found to be in a deteriorated state while posters and banners were found on walls. Instructions were then given to initiate action against the junior engineer and to give adverse entry to the senior manager in the record.
In Sector 44, delays and substandard quality in the resurfacing work led to the blacklisting of a construction company, along with a fine of Rs 10 lakh. The junior engineer was also removed and adverse entries were made against the manager and senior manager. Other violations include overgrown grass in the middle tracks of the main road towards Sector 48. The contractor has been fined Rs 5 lakh for this.
The vendor zone in Sector 58 also needed proper management, leading to the dismissal of the junior engineer and adverse entries for the manager and senior manager.
Lack of cleanliness in the green belts of sectors 46 and 48 led to notices for blacklisting and fines of Rs 10 lakh for the contractors, along with an adverse entry for the deputy director, Horticulture (2).
A fine of Rs 5 lakh was levied on the contractor hired by Noida Traffic Cell (NTC) for poor traffic facilities from NH-24 to the intersection of sectors 51, 52, 71, and 72. A notice for blacklisting was also issued to the contractor.
