Johnson Tunnel, connecting Salisbury Street to Main Street, to close for four months

WORCESTER — A one-way southbound tunnel going through Lincoln Square that connects Salisbury Street and Main Street will close for four months for construction starting Wednesday, the city announced.
The Department of Public Works & Parks will be performing construction in the Ernest A. Johnson Tunnel through September. The project includes the removal of tiles from the ceiling and walls within the tunnel and a comprehensive structural analysis of the tunnel.
Regular work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with various construction vehicles and equipment expected to be present in and around the tunnel entrances.
