HYDERABAD: Students of several city schools scored good marks in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination (ICSE), results of which were released on Sunday.
A majority of schools have achieved 100% pass percentage, indicating an overall commendable performance by students this year compared to the previous year. Among the top scorers was Hamza Nisar Basha from Nasr boys school, Gachibowli, who secured 99.6%, with a perfect 100 on 100 in five subjects, with only English proving to be a slight hurdle where he secured 98 marks.
The highest score nationally in 10th grade this year was 99.8%, including English as one of the best of five subjects. While no student from Hyderabad was able to achieve this score, there were many top-scoring students across various schools.
Sarthak Lamba, with 99% from HPS Begumpet, Anubhav Ray Chaudhuri who scored 98.4% in the best of five subjects from Gitanjali Senior School, Guthikonda Meenakshi, who scored 98% from Future Kids School, Neela Ashrith who achieved 97.6% from Sri Aurobindo International School and Asifa Rehman, who secured 98% from Nasr Girls school, are among the list of top-scoring students.
The students had attempted a total of six subjects for the examinations held in February-March this year. The board released the results and the list of nine toppers on the best of five subjects basis on Sunday. A display of academic prowess has been possible only due to the hard work of the teachers, said principals of the schools.
Madhvi Chandra, principal of Gitanjali Devshala said, “The teachers have had to work extra hard post-Covid to get the children back into fold and their effort bore fruit.”
