As the number of startups has surpassed a lakh, the government has proposed the establishment of a structure to supervise their development and growth, according to Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday.
He stated that such a framework will closely monitor the growth of Startups and determine how to sustain them so that they do not fail, particularly those who have received technical and financial assistance from the government.
According to the minister, throughout the years, startups have shifted from IT to Biotech and Earth Sciences as new prospects in Oceanography have emerged.
Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor, proposed a Startup Day and Week patterned after the National Technology Day and Week.
The National Technology Day event was established in 1999 by then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to recognise Indian scientists, engineers, and technologists who contributed to India’s scientific and technology growth and assured the success of the Pokhran tests in May 1998.
