MALDA: A daily wage labourer, who had exhausted all his money to treat his twin children, had to suffer through the death of one of his kids. To add to his pain, he had to put the child’s lifeless body in a bag & board a bus to cover almost 200kms from Siliguri to his home in Bengal.
Asim Debsharma, whose child died on Saturday night, said he could not afford Rs 8,000 to hire an ambulance, as last week he had to spend Rs 16,000 on miscellaneous expenses.
When he was in the bus with his child, somehow the local councillor came to know about the tragedy and arranged an ambulance for the bereaved man. The final 5km of the journey was covered in an ambulance.
