OCS exam evaluation hit by lack of home science teachers
Bhubaneswar: Acute shortage of teachers in the state public universities has not only affected teaching and research work but also affected evaluation of the answer scripts of Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination, 2021, particularly home science papers.
OPSC, which conducts the OCS examination and publishes the results, has written to the higher education department urging to provide faculty members for the evaluation of answer scripts of home science.
Earlier, the commission had requested Rama Devi Women’s University here to provide some faculty members of home science department in the rank of assistant professors and above for valuation of answer scripts of the subject. But the university registrar expressed her inability to provide the services of faculty members.
Subsequently, the OPSC on May 8 requested the government to advise the university authorities to spare the services of three faculty members of home science to complete the evaluation of OCS (Main) examination, 2021, early and timely publication of results. They may also be advised to extend cooperation to spare the services of faculty members in other disciplines as and when requisition is placed by the OPSC, the letter read.
Later, the department requested the university registrar to spare the services of three home science faculty members for the evaluation of OCS (Main) answer scripts.
Vice-chancellor Aparajita Chowdhury said they cannot spare home science teachers due to examinations of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses and other activities. Secondly, Chowdhury said the teachers will look after internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) work to prepare for the assessment by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
