Ludhiana: Residents faced the heat as day temperature soared above 40 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day on Sunday. The meteorological department has predicted rainfall after three days. A clear sky and glaring sunlight added to the heat.
Day temperature was recorded at 40.2 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal and same as a day before while minimum (night) temperature was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above normal and 5.1 degrees more than a day before.
Met department officials said that weather forecast for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is “mainly clear sky” whereas for Thursday, it is “partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers” and for Friday it is “partly cloudy sky with thundery development.” They added that day temperature was expected to increase over the next three days whereas night temperature would remain above normal.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department website suggests that while day temperature was expected to rise to 42 degrees by Tuesday, it would remain the same the next day and fall to 40 degrees Celsius by Thursday. It indicated that night temperature would fall to 24 degrees on Monday, remain the same the next day before increasing to 26 degrees by Thursday.
