Class X students breach 90% milestone, herald new beginnings
Students celebrate their success after declaration of results in Ludhiana on Sunday
LUDHIANA: With 99.2 marks, Harshita Goel of Sacred Heart Convent School, Machiwara became the district topper in the Class 10 Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Board exams, results of which were declared on Sunday.
Vanya Gupta from Sat Paul Mittal School scored 99% and stood second while Gurnoor Singh Grewal from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sahnewal scored 98.8% and stood third. Harshita scored 100 in Social Studies and 99 in Punjabi and Hindi.
The aspiring surgeon studies for at least eight hours every day. She said, “I was sure that my hard work would bear fruit as I followed my study schedule consistently and maintained discipline.” She added that her favourite subject is Science. She credits her success to her focus.
The second topper from the district is Vanya Gupta of Sat Paul Mittal School, who scored 99%. A resident of Model Town, she said that she would take up non-medical stream and pursue a career in scientific research. She scored 100 in Maths, Environmental Studies and 99 in Social Studies and Punjabi.
“I believe that there is no shortcut to success, which is why I never procrastinated and gave proper time to my studies,” she said. Gurnoor Singh Grewal of Sacred Hear t Convent School, Sahnewal clinched third position in the district. A resident of Rajgarh village, he scored 100 in Maths, Physics and History. His father Balpreet Singh is an engineer while his mother Harpreet Kaur is a homemaker.
He said, “I like to take care of plants and spend time in my garden during my free time and also love reading books related to his tory and fiction.” Gurnoor also said that he wants to be a cardiologist. According to him, he devoted at least five to six hours to studies in a day and focused on self-assessment. Schools’ performance Sacred Heart Convent School, Chandigarh Road put on a good show and got 100% pass percentage.
A total of 180 students appeared for the examination and 43 secured more than 90% marks. Khushnoor Kaur Gill of the Science stream secured the first position with 98.60%. The second position went to Anshika Bajaj with 97.4%. Gursimran Singh Thukral and Mayur Malhotra shared the third position with 97.2%.
In Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, Gurnoor Singh Grewal bagged the first position with 98.8%, Gurnoor Kaur got the second position with 97.4% and Gurleen Kaur Gill stood third with 96.8%. In Guru Nanak Public school, Model Town Extension, 40 students appeared and 16 scored 90% while 13 scored 80%. Panandeep Singh with 95.6% stood first followed by Jasmin Kaur with 93.4% and Prabhdeep Kaur with 93.4%.
