Vanathi: It’s time for VCK to join BJP alliance
Coimbatore: Hours after VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan called upon AIADMK to review its ties with BJP, in the wake of the saffron party’s rout in Karnataka, BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan responded that it was time that VCK leaves DMK alliance and joins BJP front.
On Sunday, she told reporters in Coimbatore that VCK should realise DMK was against social justice and dalits. “Why is Thirumavalavan still in the DMK alliance?’’ she asked.
In a statement issued earlier in the day on the Congress’s emphatic win in Karnataka, Thirumavalavan said, “The majority Hindus of Karnataka have defeated communalistic Sanatana and crushed the BJP.”
Stating that the ‘hate politics’ was dealt a severe blow by the people, Thirumavalavan said Congress had won in eight of the 11 constituencies where VCK campaigned during the polls.
“The electoral defeat of BJP in Karnataka has come as a relief for the people of South India. BJP was spreading communalistic poison to neighbouring states from there. The threat has subsided to some extent,” he said, adding it was time for AIADMK and other parties who are in alliance with BJP to reconsider their political bonhomie with the saffron party.“The need for AIADMK and other parties, who are carrying BJP on their shoulders, to review their ties with the saffron party has arisen,” Thirumavalavan had said.
When reporters asked Vanathi to respond to the remark, she said Thirumavalavan should walk out from his current alliance with DMK. “He should leave the DMK alliance, which is against social justice, and join the BJP front,’’ she said. Thirumavalavan should have understood by now that the DMK government accords least importance to dalits and social justice, she said.
