No repairs and upkeep: Roads in Sushant Lok 2 riddled with craters
Residents have complained that internal roads have been in a poor condition for years in Sushant Lok 2
GURGAON: Commuters are facing a harrowing time in Sushant Lok 2 as roads are riddled with craters. Residents said that the stretch between Golf Course Road and Hong Kong Bazar, which connects their society to the main road, is in a dilapidated condition.
The residents also complained that the internal roads have been in a poor condition for a long time as no maintenance work has been carried out by the developer or the MCG. This is the main connecting road for several cooperative group housing societies (CGHS) in Sector 56 and it sees heavy traffic flow.
Debangshu Dam, who has been living in D block for more than two decades, said the developer hardly carried out the maintenance in the past many years. “While we thought things would improve after MCG takeover, there has been none,” he said. N Vijaylakshmi, a resident of HUDA CGHS Apartments said due to lack of maintenance, the road has been completely worn out with huge potholes developed on it.
“During the rains, the situation turns from bad to worse with waterlogged streets making it even more difficult to step out. The service lane, which directly connects us to SPR, is unpaved and this is the only road we have that connects our society with the rest of the city. The concerned civic authorities should recarpet this road as a priority ahead of monsoon,” she said.
Pawan Yadav, RWA president, said, “We were informed by the MCG officials that the tender process has been completed and construction of the road will start by May 20 starting with 18 meter roads. This will be a relief for residents after years of suffering during the time maintenance was with the developer.” Meanwhile, an MCG official told TOI that the work on resurfacing of roads will start soon.
“The tender process has been completed and only rate approval is pending. We are expecting that the work will commence by end of this month. All the main roads and lanes will be resurfaced with cost of around Rs. 11 crores,” he said.
