Allegations of harassment arise as 17-year-old girl found dead in Thiruvananthapuram Madrassa

On May 13, a tragic incident occurred in Thiruvananthapuram, where a 17-year-old girl named Asmiya Mol allegedly took her own life in a Madrassa near Balaramapuram. The Balaramapuram Police reported that Asmiya Mol had contacted her mother on Saturday, expressing her desire to leave the institution. When her mother arrived at the Madrassa, she discovered her daughter unconscious and immediately rushed her to a private hospital. Unfortunately, medical professionals declared her deceased. Upon receiving a complaint from Asmiya Mol's mother, the Balaramapuram police initiated an investigation and registered a case under the CRPC section 174. Disturbingly, Asmiya Mol's family members have accused the Madrassa teachers of subjecting her to harassment. In light of these allegations, VV Rajesh, the Thiruvananthapuram district president of the BJP, has demanded a thorough inquiry by a special team into the case.
