Varanasi: On the occasion of India’s Amrit Mahotsav and G20, a long mural painting made by
BHU’s Prof Suresh K Nair and team of his eleven students in collaboration with airport director Aryama Sanyal at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi, has found place in Eurasia World Records. The painting measures 55.74 square meters (600 square feet).
On behalf of Eurasia World Records, Sadia Hannan from US awarded the certificate to Nair and Sanyal at the airport on Sunday.
Sanyal said, the 6.096 meter long and 9.144 wide (20x30 feet) mural painting has become the centre of attraction for every passenger at the airport. It has 300 lotus flower designs and in the centre is a Shiva Linga made of mirror, in which the beholder can see himself teaching us one of the mahavakyas of Veda- Tat Tvam Asi (That is You), said Nair.
Upon completion of the painting a few weeks ago, BHU vice chancellor Prof Sudhir K Jain had inaugurated it and also had requested Nair to make more such mural paintings on the campus. Work on it is going to start soon, Nair told TOI.
Sanyal said that the Eurasia World Records will award participation certificates to all eleven students of BHU’s faculty of visual arts including Saurabh Srivastava, Pulak K. Sarkar, Arunima Mondal, Kajal Verma, Manasi Shah, Aastha Tiwari, Tenzin Yonten, Norbu Tashi, Tenzin Newdon, Shruti Gupta and Priya Gupta, who were members of Nair’s team.
