After 10-year delay, Canacona Ravindra Bhavan nearly ready

Canacona: Almost 10 years after the foundation stone for the Canacona Ravindra Bhavan was laid at Chaudi, the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has stated that 66% of the work has been completed and that the project will be ready by December 2023.
The foundation stone was laid by then CM Manohar Parrikar on July 27, 2013. At the time, Parrikar had said that the construction of the cultural hub would commence by September that year and would be completed within 18 months.
As the work did not commence even in 2016, AAP had symbolically celebrated the fourth anniversary of the foundation stone laying event.
The work finally commenced just a day before the code of conduct for the 2017 general elections came into force.
Art and culture director Sagun Velip recently inspected the ongoing construction work. “As five years have passed since the work started, the department has been receiving many complaints that the project is lagging far behind its schedule,” he said.
Velip is learnt to have pulled up the contractor M/s Krishna Builders for carrying out the work at a slow pace.
