Following a patent dispute with Nokia, Oppo (and its sub-brand OnePlus) was compelled to suspend operations in Germany last year. Since then, rumors have circulated about Oppo potentially shutting down shops in Europe, despite the company's denial. Nonetheless, the actions taken by Oppo seem to indicate otherwise. Now the company's official website in Germany currently has no product listings, leaving it empty.
The Chinese smartphone maker has now removed all the product listings from its official website in Germany. Presently, the website only has a single ad on the homepage. The ad is about the ongoing Oppo partnership with UEFA Champions League. Along with the ad the website also has a FAQ banner answering questions about the support for existing Oppo smartphones.
On the other hand, a recent online report by French publication Frandroid mentioned that Oppo has let go of all of its commercial animators in the country. As per the report, these individuals are vital to the sales operation as they are responsible for in-store product promotion, training of sales staff, and product evangelism.
Oppo stated to the publication that it plans to continue its operations in France even after its partnership with Atmosphere ends on June 30. However, the company did not disclose any details regarding its pending balance with Atmosphere or the current count of commercial animators employed.
Reports suggest that Oppo may be facing a tough business environment in Europe, with rumours of the company potentially leaving the region. The recent statement from Oppo, which only mentions existing users, may indicate that the company is struggling in France. Oppo has already stopped selling new phones in Germany, and it's possible that the company may have to shut down operations in other regions, potentially including all of Europe.
