Patna, May 15 (KNN) The East Central Railways (ECR) has identified 50 stations across Bihar to promote the ‘One Station One Product’ (OSOP) scheme.

The initiative has been launched with an aim to translate the railways’ vision of ‘vocal for local’ into a reality. The stalls that will be set up across these stations will sell products like handicrafts, artefacts, textiles, handlooms, traditional garments as well as agricultural produce, including millets.

According to ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Birendra Kumar, among the important railways stations shortlisted for opening an outlet on their premises are Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Junction, Danapur, Patna Saheb, Mokama, Rajgir, Fatuha, Jehanabad, Ara, Buxar, Kiul, Mokama, Gaya, Dehri on Sone, Sasaram, Bapuddham Motihari, Bettiah, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Hajipur, Katihar, Naugachia, Purnia, Raxaul, Saharsa, Bhagalpur and other stations falling under the jurisdiction of Bihar.

Though this pilot scheme was launched by the railways on March 25, 2022, it has now decided to promote the scheme further by providing outlet space to farmers, local businessmen and artists to sell their products and earn a livelihood for themselves, the CPRO said.

The OSOP scheme aims to give a fillip to indigenous products and ensure additional income opportunities for the marginalized section of the society.  (KNN Bureau)
