NASHIK: The city police have filed an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut - accusing him of inciting disaffection among the cops against the government - at Mumbai Naka police station.
According to police inspector Yuvaraj Patki, the FIR was lodged after a police constable filed a complaint against Raut.
In the complaint, it has been alleged that Raut, during his press conference at the Government Rest House on May 12, had appealed to the police and the administration not to obey orders of the current government, claiming that it was unconstitutional and the orders it issued would be illegal. The complainant said Raut had claimed the government will fall in three months.

I saw various electronic media reports and even social media platforms in which Raut claimed that the government would fall in three months. He also appealed to the administration and the police not to obey the orders of the illegal government as it could be problematic for government authorities in the future," the constable said in his complaint.
His statements amount to an attempt to cause disaffection among the police force towards the government. A case has thus been registered against the Shiv Sena (UBT) MP under section 3 of the Police (Incitement to Disaffection) Act, 1922.
Meanwhile, Nashik police chief Ankush Shinde has issued prohibitory orders within the Nashik city limits under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, keeping in mind the possibility of untoward incidents in the aftermath of the SC verdict on the disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs. Shinde said the orders were issues against the backdrop of political parties indulging in leveling allegations against each other and in anticipation of incidents like effigy burning and sloganeering. The order prohibits people from carrying weapons like guns, cudgels, sticks or lathis, etc. The orders will be in force till May 29.
