CM’s flying squad raids shop, banned e-cigs seized

GURGAON: A pan shop owner was arrested on Friday after the chief minister’s flying squad along with the police raided his shop in Paras Trinity market in Sector 63.
The team has seized over 117 banned e-cigarettes and foreign cigarettes worth Rs 2 lakh from the shop and a godown.
Inspector Devender Singh of the CM flying squad, said, “We got a tip-off that banned foreign e-cigarettes were being sold at a shop in Paras Trinity market. After confirmation, a joint team led by ASI Madan Singh conducted the raid on Friday afternoon.”
The shop owner Ranjit Gupta, a resident of Bhondsi was present at the shop. He was asked to produce a license and documents related to the possession of cigarettes, but he could not show them.
The team seized 117 e-cigarettes and around 45 cartons of different brands of banned foreign cigarettes from their godown.
An FIR has been registered against Gupta under Section 7 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COPTA) at Sector 65 police station.
