Jaisalmer: A special court here has ordered Rs 44 lakh compensation to the family of Harish Suthar aka
Queen Harish, Jaisalmer’s famous dancer-choreographer, who died four years ago in a road accident.
The transport company that owned the truck involved in the accident and the Shriram General Insurance Company that had insured the truck will together have to pay the compensation, the special MACT (Motor Accident Claims Tribunals) court ruled. Tejal Devi, wife of the deceased, and other dependents had submitted a claim in the court against the truck’s owner and Shriram general insurance company limited.
Bhatia, owner of the Desert Spring resort where Harish used to perform daily, informed the court that Harish was a famous dancer-choreographer who earned more than Rs 5 lakh per annum.
His death had left his family destitute and Mayank Bhatia was supporting them financially, the court was told.
