PUNE: A 32-year-old IT firm employee from Kharadi was found dead with his throat slit behind a hill on the Lohegaon-Bawdi road on Saturday.
Police identified the deceased as Gaurav Suresh Udase from Shivajinagar in Amravati, currently residing as a paying guest with his friends in Kharadi.
The motive behind the victim’s murder could not be established immediately.
Senior inspector Gajanan Pawar of Lonikand police said, “The victim had gone for dinner in Wagholi around 10pm on Friday, but did not return home. The murder came to light after a passerby spotted his body with throat slit at the foot of a hill near a housing society and informed the city police control room around 10am.”
Pawar said, “Udase’s motorcycle was found at the spot, and we established his identity with the help of the vehicle registration number.”
The victim had a single injury with a sharp-edged weapon on the throat. His body was sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem. The post-mortem report is awaited, the officer said.
“The victim’s motorcycle was locked. His mobile phone was also not found during searches at the crime scene, Pawar said,” adding that a complaint was lodged relating to murder under section 302 of the IPC.
