LUCKNOW: With the arrest of three persons, UP STF on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang that used to offer jobs to gullible youths through a fake government training centre in Barabanki.
Those arrested, include mastermind Abhishek Pratap Singh of Barabanki and his aides Atahar Husain of Sant Kabirnagar and Neeraj Mishra of Kanpur.
The team recovered 4 mobile phones, a fake identity card of assistant review officer, 7 fake appointment letters of Ministry of environment, forest and climate change, several fake appointment letters of UP jal nigam, UP forest corporation, National Health Mission, rubber stamps of different senior government officials and other documents besides a cash of over Rs 5000 from the miscreants.
Additional SP, STF, Vishal Vikram Singh, said the accused used to charge Rs 3-4 lakh from those who fell in their trap. "They used to take a house/room on rent in the locality far from the city area and opened their office displaying boards/pamphlets of government departments and changed the rented accommodation in a training centre. The fraudsters called the victims to these centres and asked them to prepare projects after giving lectures on particular topics," Singh said. The miscreants said they then prepared the service books of the victims and also sent stipends in their bank account to make it look genuine. However, once the money was collected from the victims, the gang did a vanishing act. They sued to switch off their mobile phones, the ASP added.
