HYDERABAD: Former Congress minister Md Ali Shabbir termed the party’s win in the Karnataka assembly elections as a turning point, with the people supporting the party that focused on development and rejected divisive politics.
“People in Telangana are keen to vote Congress to power. Like the people of
Karnataka rejected the BJP and JD(S), we have confidence that voters in Telangana will reject both BRS and BJP and their divisive politics,” Shabbir Ali said.
“The election results are a stepping stone for the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Our victory is due to our focus on important issues like livelihood, food security, inflation, problems faced by farmers, unemployment and corruption. On the other hand, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi tried to divide the electorate, but the voters have rejected this and chosen the Congress party’s vision,” he added.
He said that Congress aims to work for the people and maintain democratic values. “We expect this trend to continue,” he said adding that the party has the prospects of winning 80 of the 119 constituencies in Telangana.
