2 AR jawans injured in Manipur firefight

GUWAHATI: Two jawans of Assam Rifles (AR) were injured when unidentified armed men fired at two area domination parties of the Army and AR in Manipur's Senapati and Churachandpur districts on Saturday. The troops recovered two rifles and ammunition from one of the locations.
This is the second such attack on the Army and AR soldiers since Thursday when one AR jawan was wounded in Imphal East district. Another AR jawan was injured while trying to defuse a crude IED in Bishnupur district on Friday.
Army's Dimapur-based 3rd Corps said in a tweet, "Joint Army & Assam Rifles domination patrol fired upon by group of unidentified armed personnel at 12:45 pm from forest area. Two Assam Rifles personnel sustained Gun Shot Wound and evacuated. Fire retaliated & operation is in progress." The incident occurred at Lailampat village.
In another tweet, the 3rd Corps (Spear Corps) said, "AssamRifles Area Domination Patrol fired upon by group of unidentified armed personnel in jungle near Vill Sipijang at approx 11:25 am,13 May. Effective retaliation-unidentified persons ran away. Two Rifles &ammunition recovered."
The Army stated that domination of sensitive far-flung areas is being undertaken to reassure local population across communities of safety and security. "Employment of Force Multipliers including UAVs, RPAs & Army Dogs to enhance operational effectiveness underway," another tweet read.
"#IndianArmy & #AssamRifles continue sustained area domination operations in #Manipur. Deployment grid coordinated with State Administration, CAPF & State Police based on assessment of situation and identification of vulnerable areas," it added.
