Ludhiana: Katani Kalan police arrested a woman and her accomplice in a case of honeytrap. The accused woman identified and reached out to her target on Facebook and called him to her house. When he turned up, both the accused allegedly beat him up and robbed him. They also forced him to say on video that he had gone to rape the woman and then they tried to extort money from him.
The victim informed the police and the accused, Dimple Kumari alias Pooja, 38, and her accomplice Gaurav, both residents of Ferozepur, were arrested. They live in a rented accommodation in Kohara. A case has been registered against them the complaint of Sunny Kumar, 30, a resident of Bhola Colony, Tajpur road.
ASI Dharampal, in-charge, Katani Kalan police post said that Sunny Kumar came in contact with the accused woman on Facebook about one year ago. He said they exchanged phone numbers and started talking to each other. Dimple told Sunny that she was divorced and lived alone in Kohara. She also invited him to her house. When Sunny reached there, he found two men present. The ASI added that the accused thrashed Sunny and robbed him of Rs 1,500 cash and a mobile phone. To extort money from Sunny, the accused forced him to say on video that he had gone to Dimple’s house to rape her. Then, they threatened to circulate the video and lodge a police complaint. They demanded Rs 35,000 from Sunny.
Police lodged an FIR against two accused under sections 384 (extortion), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC. The role of the second man is being checked.
