11-year-old killed in accident; 3 injured

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 11-year-old boy died, and three others sustained injuries after the tempo traveller in which they were travelling was hit by a truck at Enjivila near Kaliyakkavilai on Saturday morning.
The tempo traveller carrying 15 people was coming from Ernakulam for a trip to Kanyakumari. When reaching Enjivila on Kaliyakkavilai-Thiruvananthapuram road, a truck carrying fish to the city hit the tempo traveller. People, who rushed to the spot, had to break open the vehicle to rescue the travellers.
The deceased has been identified by police as Abhinav son of Binukumar of Pennattu Veedu near Chenkara at Kothamangalam. The details of the injured are not yet available.
The driver of the truck, Rahul, 23, a Nagercovil native has been taken into custody. Police said the truck driver reportedly dozed off which led to the accident. A case has been registered against him under section 304-A of IPC for causing death by negligence.
