Stressing on the importance of BJP’s loss in the Karnataka Assembly Polls, Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti on May 13 in Srinagar dubbed the election results as a ‘ray of hope’ for next year’s 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. She further credited and hailed the people of Karnataka for supporting Congress over party’s promises on development and welfare schemes amid BJP’s tries to gain the mass’ support through ‘communal and religious’ politics. “The voters of Karnataka have shown a ray of hope to the country amid the BJP’s tries to make the situation communal. PM also participated in the poll campaign and the party tried to make the situation religious. The Congress however, kept forward their narrative on development and welfare schemes and the people supported Congress based on that, which turned out to be good,” Mufti said. The Congress party bagged a huge win after comfortably clinching the majority of 136 seats out of the total 224 constituencies in the Karnataka Assembly Polls. Karnataka until this election, was the only state in the Southern India that was under BJP’s ruled. The polls were held on May 10.
