NOIDA: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing a 16-year-old boy a few hours after the latter requested him not to create a fracas at his sister's wedding earlier this week. Police said the accused, Dharmendra Yadav, is a property dealer and a resident of Noida's Parthala Khanjarpur. He was on his way to surrender at the district court when he was nabbed at the gate.
"Around 5am on Wednesday, we received information that a boy had been shot outside his house. He had suffered a bullet wound in the chest and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during the treatment. The deceased, Taves Yadav, was a resident of Haibatpur village in Bisrakh," said Ramesh Pandey, ACP (Bisrakh).
During the investigation, it was found that on the evening of May 9, the boy's sister was getting married at DL Palace in Old Haibatpur.
"The boy's maternal uncle, Chhote Lal, had a heated argument with a guest, Dharmendra, who was found drinking. When the argument escalated into a fight, the boy intervened and asked them not to create a ruckus at his sister's wedding," Pandey added.
When all the rituals were over, the family headed home. Dharmendra followed the family and started drinking outside their home as well.
"Early morning, when Taves stepped out to collect milk, Dharmendra shot at him and fled," the ACP stated.
The 16-year-old was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The body was sent for an autopsy, the report of which is awaited.
Meanwhile, based on the family's complaint, police booked Dharmendra under IPC Section 302 (murder).
"Three teams were formed to nab Dharmendra. On Friday, we got to know that he had come to the Surajpur court to surrender and we arrested him from gate number 3," said Anil Kumar Rajpoot, the SHO of Bisrakh police station.
Police have recovered a licenced gun along with two live cartridges from his possession.
"We have submitted a report to cancel the accused's arms licence. During questioning, he revealed that he was furious after Taves interrupted him several times, due to which he ended up killing him," Rajpoot added.
