In the high-voltage elections of Karnataka, several senior leaders of the political parties entered the fray and the high-intensity campaign saw several allegations and counter-allegations against each other. For the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did massive roadshows in the state and tried some last-minute steps to swing the mood of voters.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi who rarely addresses elections rallies also entered the battleground and addressed several rallies in Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi focused on ground-level interaction with voters and his candid conversations with gig workers, people in buses, and vendors on roads might have worked for the party.

The BJP was facing massive anti-incumbency and serious allegations of corruption, highlighted creatively by the Congress. According to many experts, corruption was one of the major issues on which the people of Karnataka exercised their franchise.

The win in Karnataka is not the end of challenges for the Congress as the party now faces the bigger question of the Chief Minister. Senior leaders of Karnataka Congress DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah are in the fray and the decision will surely test the political acumen of the party's high-command.
