Kolkata’s Tata cancer hosp to provide cashless treatment to J’khand patients
Ranchi: Cancer patients from Jharkhand who are referred by the government-run hospitals of the state to Kolkata’s Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) will now be able to avail cashless treatments.
The announcement was made after the state health mission’s Jharkhand Arogya Society inked a memorandum of understanding with TMC Kolkata.
The MoU was inked at the sidelines of the inauguration of the Tata Trust’s new cancer hospital-cum-research centre in Sukurhuttu in Kanke, which was attended by chief minister Hemant Soren and Tata Steel’s vice-chairman Noel Tata.
“This is an important MoU. Any cancer patient who is referred to TMC Kolkata will be able to avail cashless treatment. This would ease the burden of the patients,” Chanakya Choudhary, Tata Steel’s vice-president (corporate services) said.
Notably, the Hemant Soren government had in 2021 rolled out the Mukhyamantri Gambhir Bimari Upchar Yojana which provides health insurance coverage benefits of up to 10 lakh for critical ailments such as heart diseases, kidney ailments and cancer.
Notably, the project was first mooted by the erstwhile Raghubar Das government in 2017-18 FY but the project did not take off.
