HYDERABAD: Former Congress minister Md Ali Shabbir termed the party's win in the Karnataka assembly elections as a turning point with the people clearly supporting the party that focused on development and rejected divisive politics.
"People in Telangana are keen to vote Congress to power. Like the people of Karnataka rejected the BJP and JD (S), we have confidence that voters in Telangana will reject both BRS and BJP and their divisive politics," he said.
"The election results in Karnataka are a stepping stone for the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Our victory is due to our focus on important local issues like livelihood, food security, inflation, problems faced by farmers, unemployment, and corruption. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to divide the electorate, but the voters have rejected this and chosen the Congress party's vision for a united and prosperous Karnataka," he said.
According to Shabbir Ali, the Congress party aims to work for the people and maintain democratic values.
"We expect this trend to continue in the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh," he said.
Shabbir Ali mentioned the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi as key to their successful campaign.
"Our leaders connected with the voters and stood for principles like inclusivity, progress, and justice, which people in Karnataka deeply appreciated," he said.
He said the Congress has the bright prospects of winning in at least 80 of the total 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana.
