Kanpur Nagar dist tops in UP in prenatal check-ups
Kanpur: Kanpur Nagar district is at top in Uttar Pradesh in the four pre-natal check-ups of pregnant women.

According to the research published in the year 2019 in Health Population and Nutrition General, the role of health worker is important for antenatal and postnatal care. Women are more likely to take advantage of ANC and PNC with greater contact with health workers. According to CMO Dr Alok Ranjan, the role of the health worker is important in safe maternal care. ASHA workers and ANMs are the first who are contacted by pregnant women. In such a situation, Kanpur district has got a better result of mutual coordination of ASHA and ANMs, he said.
The government is running several schemes to ensure safe delivery in which the role of ASHA workers is important. It is the responsibility of every family that if there is a pregnant woman in their house, they should take advantage of the health services free of cost, the CMO said.
District maternal health consultant Hari Shankar Mishra said every possible effort is being made by the government to provide facilities related to maternal health.
Figures of NFHS-5 show that 95.6 percent of pregnant women in the district had been registered and issued a mother and child protection card (MCP) and 86.6 percent of pregnant women were given institutional deliveries, he said.
