BHUBANESWAR: Students of Bhubaneswar region that comprises Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh states recorded a pass percentage of 83.89% in the Class XII and 93.64% in Class X board exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared on Friday.
The pass rate of Class XII and Class X has dropped by 9.37% and 4.4% from last year's figures of 93.26% and 97.69% respectively.
The overall pass rate for classes XII and X has been recorded at 87.33% and 93.12% in the country respectively. Among the regions, Thiruvananthapuram topped in both classes with 99.91% pass rate.
Among schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) scored highest pass percentage in both the classes with 96.67 in Class XII and 99.96 for Class X, followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas in the region.
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the students who cleared the CBSE Class XII examination. "It is a moment to rejoice in the success and cherish the fruits of hard work that you put in all year round. Best wishes for a happy and bright future," Pradhan said in his tweet.
In both the classes girls outshone boys in the state. No merit list was declared by the CBSE.
