JAIPUR: Even as Congress leader Sachin Pilot's Ajmer-to-Jaipur padyatra has caused uneasy vibes in the party, he found support from cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas on Friday as the latter said there was nothing wrong with Pilot's yatra against the corruption of the previous BJP government.
"Rahul Gandhi also fighting against corruption under Modi, and Pilot is doing the same. The need of the hour is unity in the party (Congress), said Khachariyawas, the food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister, at a press conference at his residence.
He also said statements like those of senior minister Shanti Dhariwal, who said the other day that "Gehlot ne bahut diggajon ko pani pilaya hai" (Gehlot has outsmarted many heavyweights), were uncalled for and avoidable. Khachariyawas said this was not the time for bravado and that senior leaders should not speak in such language.
Calling for greater unity in the party, Khachariyawas said this is the time to embrace those who are unhappy and not to antagonise them. He said Congress is strong in Rajasthan and would retain power if it stays united.
