VADODARA: A gang duping people by offering jobs at M S University has been booked for cheating. The accused duped 15 job aspirants to the tune of Rs 1.67 crore in the last one year. Investigation into the case has been handed over to the detection of crime branch (DCB).
Kinjal Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, has filed a complaint against three persons at Sayajigunj police station. Kinjal told the police that she had come in contact with three people identified as Shailesh Solanki, Rahul Patel and Manish Katara through her neighbour. She said in her complaint that she was told that the accused work at M S University and they help people in getting jobs at the university.
Solanki demanded Rs 11 lakh from Kinjal for getting her a job at MSU and also asked her to submit her degree certificates in February last year. She and her husband came to Vadodara, did a medical examination and gave the money to Solanki. He told her that she would get a job letter within a week. She was sent a joining letter for the supervisor’s post in MSU’s arts faculty after 15 days.
But the accused kept dilly-dallying when she enquired about her job, following which Kinjal and her husband demanded their money back. The accused again called Kinjal to Vadodara and told her that she would have to clear an examination to get the job. She and a few other job aspirants were then taken to a hotel in the city for the exam.
The accused also promised that they will deposit her monthly salary in her bank account. Kinjal said that Rs 51,550 were deposited in her bank account, along with the rent of the accommodation that the accused had promised. In July last year, the accused again deposited Rs 25,000 in her account but she didn’t get the job at MSU.
Kinjal then learnt that the accused had duped some other job aspirants too, following which she approached Ahmedabad police. The case was later transferred to Vadodara police.
