Belgaum Assembly Constituency result 2023 highlights: Congress wrests Belgaum North and Rural seats, BJP wins in South constituency

BELAGAVI: The counting of votes for the three assembly constituencies in Belgaun has concluded. The Congress has registered win in Belgaum North and Rural seats while BJP managed to win the South constituency.
On May 10, elections were held for the three constituencies in Belgaum, namely Belgaum Dakshin, Belgaum Uttar, and Belgaum Rural. The political landscape in the region is expected to witness a fierce competition between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. Notably, the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) did not field any candidates for the three seats. Here are the highlights of the vote counting :
* In Chikodi-Sadalaga, Congress candidate Ganesh Prakash Hukkeri defeats BJP's Katti Ramesh Vishwanath by a margin of 78,509 votes.
* In Nippani constituency, BJP's Jolle Shashikala Annasaheb wins against NCP's Uttam Raosaheb Patil by a margin of 7,292 votes.
* In Ramdurg, Congress's Ashok Mahadevappa Pattan defeats Chikkarevanna of the BJP by a margin of 11,730 votes.
* In Belgaum Rural constituency, Congress's Laxmi R Hebbalkar defeats BJP candidate Nagesh Annappa Manolkar by 56016 votes.
* Congress candidate Asif (Raju) Sait leads by 7749 votes against BJP's DR RL B Patil in Belgaum North seat.
* Congress party candidate Mahantesh Koujalagi wins from Bailhongal constituency.
* Congress candidate Ashok Pattan leading with 9,462 votes in Ramdurg after 14th round
* BJP candidate Abhay Patil wins with 12,000 votes in Belagavi South constituency
* Laxman Savadi got tremendous lead of 30,509 votes in Athani after 9th round. Savadi got 50,275 votes, while his close rival BJP candidate Mahesh Kumathalli got 19,766 votes.
* Congress candidate Ganesh Hukkeri got the lead of 23,147 votes against BJP candidate Ramesh Katti in Chikodi-Sadalaga constituency.
* BJP candidate Dr Ravi Patil leading with 5,700 votes against Congress candidate Asif Sait in Belagavi North.
* Belagavi: Congress candidate Mahesh Tammannavar got a lead of 16,138 against BJP candidate P Rajeev after 5th round. Tammannavar- 33,079, Rajeev- 16,941.
* BJP's Abhay Patil maintains lead. He has so far got 31,018 votes against his opponent Prabhavati Basavaraj Mastmardi (5,879 votes) of Congress.
* Belagavi South BJP candidate Abhay Patil leading by 3,300 votes against MES candidate Ramakant Konduskar after 2nd round.
* Belagavi: BJP’s Nikhil Katti got lead in Hukkeri constituency against Congress candidate AB Patil in postal ballot votes counting. Nikhil Katti- 474, AB Patil- 425.
In Belgaum Uttar, the Congress nominated Asif Sait as their candidate, while the BJP selected Ravi Patil to contest from this constituency. The battle for Belgaum Dakshin features Prabhavathi Mastmardi as the Congress candidate and Abhay Patil as the BJP candidate. Lastly, in Belgaum Rural, Laxmi Ravindra Hebbalkar from the Congress is vying for victory against Nagesh Mannolkar from the BJP.
The elections in these constituencies will shape the political landscape in Belgaum, with the BJP and Congress engaged in a competitive race for success.
