Khelo India torch rally gets rousing welcome in Jhansi

JHANSI: The Khelo India University Games-2023 torch rally received a rousing welcome in city on Friday.
A large number of administrative officials, school students and sports enthusiast participated in the rally which passed through the city and ended at Dhyanchand stadium where a number of cultural events, including folk dances, Malkhamb and gymnastic displays, were held.
The rally was flagged off from the main gate of the historic Jhansi fort by DM Ravindra Kumar in the presence of SSP Rajesh S and CDO Junaid Ahmad. The torch reached Jhansi on Thursday evening from Jalaun.
"This competition is a great opportunity to acquaint people with the changing Uttar Pradesh. The competition will help rural sports talent to show their skill and excel in this field," said the DM.
The logo, mascot and anthem of the games were launched in Lucknow on May 5 by chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union sports minister Anurag Thakur.
Similar rallies are being taken out at four different levels which will cover all the districts of the state. The competition will be taking place in four cities-- Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
Around 4705 sportpersons from 200 universities are expected to participate in 21 sporting disciplines between May 25-June 3.
