PRAYAGRAJ: Senior police and administrative officials, including police commissioner Ramit Sharma and district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri, on Friday reviewed the arrangements for counting of votes to be held at Mundera Mandi in Dhoomanganj on Saturday.
They claimed that all necessary arrangements have been made and counting of vote for civic polls will start from 7am. While counting of votes cast for electing mayor and corporators of 100 wards will be held at Mundera Mandi, the votes polled for the candidates in fray for the post of chairman and members of the eight nagar panchayats will be counted in the respective nagar panchayat areas.
Authorities at district election office have already issued a set of guidelines for the safe completion of the counting. Mobile, electronic watches, electronic devices, calculators, water bottles have been banned at the counting site. Installation of CCTV cameras at the counting venues has been done and videography of the entire process will also be held. A control room has also been set up at the DSTO office in the city from where the report of the votes counted in each round will be issued.
For the counting of votes, over 700 government employees were imparted training and engaged for the process. About 56 tables have been set up for the candidates of the post of mayor and corporators while 29 tables have been put up for nagar panchayat candidates. There will be four employees stationed on each table for the counting of municipal corporation votes. This would include one observer along with two employees performing counting and one bringing and carrying EVMs. At the same time, five employees will be deployed on one table for the counting of votes of the nagar panchayats. Officials said the counting of municipal candidates will be completed in seven to eight hours.
