Soon, orders are anticipated to be given in this respect. Currently, alcohol is only offered in pubs and restaurants in full bottles; quarter and half bottles are not accepted. customers will be permitted to purchase quarter and half bottles at pubs and restaurants under the new proposed rules.

Sources claim that the Excise Department has already sent out a circular to all parties explaining the government's strategy. It is also known that the State government is taking steps to streamline the bar licensing procedure in order to put the suggested modifications into effect, eliminate the need for bank guarantees, and introduce payment flexibility to assist owners of bars and restaurants. According to officials, the new regulations would help the State's 1,172 taverns, many of which are thought to be struggling financially as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.

In the meantime, proprietors of wine stores are complaining about the government's decision to let bars and restaurants sell quarter- and half-bottles of alcohol. They fear that their sales would fall if these bottles are sold at pubs and eateries.

Some wine shop owners, however, believe that the government's decision will not have an impact on their stores. "We serve our own clients. They will keep visiting us. It won't have an impact on our business, in my opinion. Quarter and half bottles will be priced as usual in bars and restaurants. Therefore, individuals seeking alcohol at MRP would undoubtedly purchase it from wine stores, according to Sudhakar, proprietor of Sri Venkateshwara Wines.

The government's decision to permit the sale of quarter and half spirits bottles in bars and restaurants, according to telangana Wine Dealers Association President D Venkateshwara Rao, would undoubtedly have an impact on the industry of wine stores. "We are aware that many pubs and restaurants are losing money. But permitting admission into our area in the pretext of aiding them is wrong, he added.

"Wine stores close at 11 p.m., but bars and restaurants are allowed to stay open until midnight, so if customers prefer to purchase alcohol from them between 11 p.m. and midnight, there won't be any issues. But we would lose a lot of business if they set up a separate counter at their location and sell like wine stores," he noted.
