THANE: Two men drowned in Thane lakes early on Friday, officials said. In the first case, Thane civic rescue teams were alerted of a 30-year-old man’s body found floating in Upwan lake around 9am.
Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell, said officials fished out the youth and rushed him to a local hospital, where he was declared dead. In the second case, locals spotted the body of a 28-year-old man floating in Nirmal Nagari lake in Shil, following which they alerted civic and police officials.
“The man is a local resident and probably had ventured for a swim and got drowned. We have registered an accidental death case,” said an official of Daighar police station.
