After Bharatiya Janata Party and Bajrang Dal members got into a heated confrontation with the police over the screening of "The Kerala Story" in a theatre on Friday, there was a brief period of low-intensity unrest in the sensitive Bhainsa town. Members of the BJP and the Bajrang Dal caused a disturbance and blocked the police from getting to the scene, which they had apparently arrived at to prevent the Kamala theatre in the town from showing the contentious movie.

Dr. P. Ramadevi, the bjp district president for Nirmal, also tried to paste movie posters. Later, police were able to contain the situation. Since the release of the trailer, The kerala Story has generated debate across the nation. In spite of the controversy, the film is receiving positive reviews online and enjoys a strong opening weekend at the box office.

Starting today, tamil Nadu multiplex cinemas won't be showing "The kerala Story." The proprietors of the multiplex have given the public's lack of support and probable law and order problems as their justifications for the relocation. The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) party of tamil Nadu opposed the movie's premiere in chennai on May 6. After entering the theatre to protest there against the playing of The kerala Story, NTK cadres were detained by the police.
