State drops charges, revokes suspension of Mum former CP
Nagpur/Mumbai: The state government on Wednesday dropped charges and revoked the suspension of former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh (now retired) citing a Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order that said the suspension order lapsed because the government did not review it in time.
Singh, an IPS officer of 1988 batch, was suspended in December 2021 following allegations of misconduct in the wake of the infamous Antilia bomb scare. Then state home minister, Anil Deshmukh, had transferred Singh from his post as Mumbai police commissioner to the home guards wing in March 2021 for lapses in the probe into recovery of explosives from a vehicle outside the Ambani residence. Singh, in turn, wrote to then CM Uddhav Thackeray accusing Deshmukh of collecting bribes.
