Ranchi: Senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Supriyo Bhattacharya on Friday accused a BJP youth wing worker of posting a private video of him on social media and making objectionable remarks with an aim to ‘tarnish his image’.
On Friday, Bhattacharya, 53, lodged an FIR with the Lalpur police station against Aman Jaiswal of Bharatiya Janata Yuwa Morcha (BJYM), Jharkhand.
"I was unwell in November last year due to a problem in my nerves in my waist. I was being treated at home by Namkum-based doctor Santosh Kumar. During my course of treatment, someone accompanying Kumar had discreetly shot my video without my knowledge," Bhattacharya said.
The video, yet to be verified by TOI, reportedly shows Bhattacharya doing exercises at his home while Kumar looks on.
Stating that the video was posted on social media on Thursday, Bhattacharya alleged that Jaiswal wrote objectionable comments against the clip.
"These are deliberate acts to tarnish my image. I have a political career spanning three decades and such allegations are causing me mental distress," he added.
Last month, health minister Banna Gupta was embroiled in a controversy after an ‘inappropriate’ video of him went viral on the social media. A few days later, Ranchi MLA C P Singh accused that a woman tried to honeytrap him over a phone call.
