Ludhiana: In a crackdown against roadside encroachments, tehbazaari teams of all the four zones of the municipal corporation (MC) on Thursday conducted anti-encroachment drives in areas such as Ghumar Mandi, Bhadaur House, market near Clock Tower, Sandhu Nagar, and tyre market near railway station.
The civic body teams removed around 100 encroachments from roadsides, including vends, as these resulted in bottlenecks and were disturbing the traffic movement in respective areas.
MC secretary Tajinderpal Singh Panchhi said that the drive was organised on the directions of MC commissioner Shena Aggarwal and joint commissioner Kulpreet Singh. MC’s health branch team also issued challans against illegal slaughtering in Sandhu Nagar and adjoining areas.
Panchhi said that regular drives were being organised in the city to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
