L20 discusses security, health issues of workers
Nagpur: The Labour 20 (L20) meeting, which was organized in the city on Thursday, discussed social security, health and other issues of workers.
Organised by Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) at a private hotel, L20 being one of the 11 organs of the G20, is viewed as an important entity which serves the interest of the workers. It was inaugurated by Ravindra Himte, general secretary of BMS and Deepika Kachal, joint secretary of union ministry of labour and employment.
Learned scholars from various different regions participated in the discussion. The labour issues were discussed in three sessions.
Palavio Kamin, professor from Spain, highlighted the need for an integrated strategy to solve the problems faced by the workers on global level. Santosh Mehrotra, one of the panelists, made a presentation on the need for social security for unorganized workers in India. Kachal gave information about the various schemes and activities being implemented for the organized and unorganized workers in the country.
