Social, political organisation founder shot dead in Pune
PUNE: Kishor Aware, founder of Talegaon Dabhade-based social and political organisation Janseva Vikas Samiti was assaulted and shot dead at Maruti Mandir Chowk in Talegaon Dabhade on Friday afternoon.
"Four unknown assailants fired rounds and attacked Aware with sharp weapons, when he was returning after meeting the CEO of Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council," an officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch told TOI.
Aware was immediately taken to a private hospital at Somatane Phata, where he succumbed to the injuries. "Reason behind Aware's murder is being probed," the officer said.
Heavy police bandobast has been deployed in Talegaon Dabhade.
Aware was active in Talegaon Dabhade, through his several social initiatives. His organisation had contested Talegaon Municipal council elections.
