LONDON—The tech entrepreneur once hailed as Britain’s Bill Gates was extradited to the U.S., a year after a U.K. judge ruled he had duped HP into overpaying for his software company.

Mike Lynch was escorted Thursday by U.S. Marshals during his extradition flight to San Francisco, according to U.K. and U.S. authorities. He faces criminal charges on multiple counts, including conspiracy and wire fraud related to the 2011 sale of his company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard, which has since split into two separate companies.
