JAIPUR: Former chief minister and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje on Thursday said that her political rival Ashok Gehlot has been holding a grudge against her since 2003 and considers her as his biggest enemy and a thorn in his path.
At a meeting in Chhoti Khatu (Nagaur), Raje refuted Gehlot’s recent claim that she refused to be part of a BJP attempt to overthrow his government in 2020. She said that Gehlot made this statement to harm her reputation.
“Ashok Gehlot has never won a clear majority since 2003. That's why he considers me as his biggest enemy and a thorn in his path. That’s why there is no goodwill for me in his praise, only malice,” she said. Raje said that Gehlot had been using derogatory language against her for the past two decades, and she had not forgotten it.
“He has deliberately said this to harm me. Otherwise, he has been using indecent and objectionable language against me for 20 years, which I have not forgotten,” she said.
She said that though women are worshipped in Indian culture, yet there seems to be a competition to hurl mud at them. She said that using vulgar language is not in women’s nature, but they will not be intimidated or back down against such language. Invoking the power of women, Raje also recited verses of the Hanuman Chalisa at the programme.
