City records hottest day of this month @41.3 deg C
Nagpur: Thursday was the hottest day recorded in Nagpur as yet in this month, with the city’s maximum temperature soaring to 41.3 degree Celsius.
Till now, the highest temperature for Nagpur for this season has been 42 degree Celsius recorded on April 19. Akola and Wardha were the hottest in Vidarbha on Thursday, both witnessing maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius. All the districts in Vidarbha recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degree Celsius.
According to weather forecasting website El Dorado, Jalgaon was the seventh hottest city in the world, with a maximum temperature as high as 44.8 degree Celsius.
Apart from this, the night-time temperatures have also seen a gradual rise. On Thursday, Yavatmal recorded the highest minimum temperature of 27.2 degree Celsius.
While the region saw variations in weather conditions, with occurrence of rainfall at many places at the beginning of this month, met officials said that the mercury levels are now heading towards a rising tendency.
The forecast of Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur, shows that in the coming week, maximum temperatures of Nagpur can further go up to 43-44 degree Celsius. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that maximum temperatures are likely to increase by three-to-five degree Celsius in most parts of the country during the next three days.
At present, the met department has not issued a heatwave warning for any district. However, it has advised citizens to take necessary precautions.
