There is a huge difference between former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the current people, Ajit Pawar said

There is no need of demanding resignation from the current CM Eknath Shinde on moral grounds. We know he will not resign even in his dreams, NCP leader Ajit Pawar commented on Friday a day after Shiv Sena (UTB) leader Uddhav Thackeray demanded that the Maharashtra chief minister steps down on moral grounds

There is a huge difference between former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the current people, the NCP leader further added.

Thackeray on Thursday sought the resignation of CM Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis on moral grounds following the Supreme Court ruling on the 2022 political crisis in the state on Thursday, a demand swiftly rejected by top ruling coalition leaders, as rival camps claimed vindication of their positions after the much-awaited verdict.

The judgment reinstates trust in democracy, said Thackeray, who was the chief minister of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, comprising his group, the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress, and resigned in June 2022 after a rebellion in the undivided Shiv Sena, triggering a political crisis in the state.

Meanwhile, Shinde said he staked claim to form the government within the legal and constitutional framework and it has now got the stamp of the Supreme Court

What would I say, don't resign: former Maharashtra Governor

Following SC ruling, the former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari on Thursday defended his move saying his decision was compelled as Thackeray had resigned.

"When someone's resignation came to me, what would I say, don't resign," he told reporters here.

Asked about the apex court's judgement, saying that the Governor have no power to enter the political arena, he immediately told reporters that it is not his job to see whether the Supreme Court's decision is right or wrong.

"Now that the Supreme Court has said. So it is the job of you people, to see whether the top court's judgement is right or wrong. It is a job of an analyst, to it and not mine," he added.

Shinde also backed the former State Governor.

"I won't talk about what Supreme Court said about the then Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, but I would say that he acted as per the situation at the time," Shinde said in a press briefing in Mumbai.
